The Mary from Dungloe International Festival is in its 51st year and centres on the selection of the ‘Mary from Dungloe’ which brings young women from all parts of the world to the town of Dungloe in County Donegal.
We take this opportunity, on behalf of everyone involved, to welcome you to our Festival and indeed our town. We do hope you enjoy your visit, our programme of events, the hospitality of the people of the Rosses, the amazing scenery, and the many tourist attractions.
Our theme this year is “Local Heroes” and we have tried very hard to source all of this year’s entertainment as locally as possible. This year, the festival will be officially opened by Annemarie McCullagh, A true hard worker and ambassador for Dungloe, Annemarie has been associated with MFD for over 37 years and has worked tirelessly to promote the festival and Dungloe itself in New York where she worked and lived. The headline act this year is the world renowned ‘Riverdance’, who will take to the main stage on Saturday 4th of August!
Our Festival has a variety of great events on offer with lots of events throughout the festival suitable for the whole family, with everyone encouraged to participate. We have tried to accommodate for all ages and in return we ask for your cooperation with our stewards and Gardaí to ensure safety for everyone. Have a look through our events and highlight which of those you and your family wish to participate in, that’s what the festival is all about after all! If you are touring in the area of West Donegal, please visit the tourist office at the Ionad Teampall Chróine and pick up ideas on some of the many tourist attractions throughout Dungloe and the Rosses.
We would like to thank our reigning Mary, Alisha Medford for her excellent work and representation of the festival throughout the year. We would also like to thank our main sponsors, the local traders and those who work hard to promote the festival and select Marys to represent them at the Festival each year. We would also like to thank all the local people who willingly participate every year in organising various community events during the Festival. We hope you enjoy your vist to Dungloe, the Rosses in West Donegal, enjoy our programme of events, enjoy time with your family and friends but most of all, return again to Dungloe and our beautiful County Donegal.
