Mary from Dungloe
The Mary from Dungloe International Festival is in its 49th year and centres on the selection of the ‘Mary from Dungloe’ which brings young women from all parts of the world to the town of Dungloe in County Donegal.
We take this opportunity, on behalf of everyone involved, to welcome you to our Festival and indeed our Town. We do hope you enjoy your visit, our programme of events, the hospitality of the people of the Rosses, the amazing scenery, and the many tourist attractions.
Our programme is very much "Community Involved" with lots of events based on fun and entertainment with everyone encouraged to participate. Hav a look trough our events and highlight what you and your family wish to participate in, thats what the festival is all about. if you are touring in the area of West Donegal, please visit the tourist office at the Ionad Teampall Chróine and pick up ideas on some of the many tourist attractions throughput Dungloe and the Rosses.
Our Festival has a variety of great events on offer. We have tried to accomadate all ages and in return we ask for your cooperation with our stewards and Gardaí to ensure safety for everyone.
Once again we pride ourselves onour "La Gaelach" (Thursday 28th July) with the main street taken over for a mini Fleadh where Irish dancing, Ceilí and traditional music and culture continues from 11am - midnight. We welcome all our Marys to the 2016 Festival and hope each Mary will take home fond memories and new friends from Dungloe. May we extend a very special welcome to Siobhan Dunn (Edinburgh) our 2015 Mary who will be our embassador during the 10 day festival.
We would like to thank our funding bodies Donegal County Council and Fáilte Ireland, our main spaonsors the local trader and those who work hard to promote the festival and select Marys to represent them at the Festival each year. We would also like to thank all the local people who willingly participate year in organising various community events during the Festival.
