My name is Emily Mcdonald and I am twenty years old. I'm honoured to have the opportunity to represent monaghan as their Mary this year, I feel that it opens up many doors in the near future aswel as giving me the opportunity to develop new skills and enhance my current ones.
I'm currently studying Environmental health science in College in Dublin, it's a four year degree and I have just completely my second year. I chose this course in the hope of furthering my knowledge on exactly what I can do, on an individual basis, and hopefully educating others on what they can do to reduce their carbon footprint and have a positive impact on the planet we live on.
My goal is to become an environmental health officer, which I will be qualified as when my four years are up. As long as I end up working in the environmental sector I will be content. Before entering my working career, I aspire to travel and work in the marine sector of a wildlife park in California. I'm currently awaiting to achieve my scuba certificate as it's required in this line of work.
I look forward to meeting and interacting with all the other Mary's and everyone involved in the Mary from Dungloe festival. I know that I build many new friendships and build memories to cherish. The MFD festival is a new experience for me as I've never had any involvement in it before. I'm proud to say that will be changing very soon and I hope it will become part of my own family tradition in the coming years!
